Description
Terazon 2 mg Tablet, manufactured by Incepta Pharmaceuticals Ltd., contains 2 mg of Terazosin Hydrochloride as its active ingredient. Terazosin is an alpha-1 adrenergic blocker that selectively inhibits alpha-1 receptors, leading to the relaxation of smooth muscle in blood vessels and the prostate. This action results in lowered blood pressure and improved urinary flow, making it effective in treating conditions like benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and hypertension. For BPH, the typical starting dose is 1 mg at bedtime, with gradual increases to achieve the desired response, usually within a range of 5–10 mg daily. In hypertension management, the initial dose is also 1 mg at bedtime, with subsequent adjustments to 2–10 mg daily as needed. Common side effects include dizziness, fatigue, and peripheral edema. Terazon is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Terazosin or its analogs. Caution is advised when combining Terazon with other antihypertensive agents to avoid significant hypotension. It is recommended to take the first dose at bedtime due to the risk of postural hypotension.
