Indications:
Quiet XR is indicated for major depressive disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), panic disorder, and certain anxiety disorders.
Pharmacology:
Fluoxetine is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI) that increases serotonin levels in the brain to improve mood and reduce anxiety.
Dosage & Administration:
Typically started at 20 mg once daily; dose may be increased as needed. Extended-release capsules should be swallowed whole.
Interaction:
May interact with MAO inhibitors, other SSRIs, anticoagulants, and CNS depressants.
Contraindications:
Contraindicated in patients taking MAO inhibitors or with hypersensitivity to Fluoxetine.
Side Effects:
Common side effects include nausea, insomnia, headache, and sexual dysfunction.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Use only if clearly needed during pregnancy. Caution advised during breastfeeding.
Precautions & Warnings:
Monitor for suicidal thoughts, serotonin syndrome, and serotonin discontinuation syndrome.
