PRULAX 2 MG is a medication containing Prucalopride, a selective 5-HT₄ receptor agonist used to treat chronic constipation in adults who have not responded adequately to laxatives. It works by stimulating the release of acetylcholine in the gastrointestinal tract, enhancing bowel motility and facilitating regular bowel movements. The usual dosage is 2 mg once daily, with or without food. For elderly patients or those with severe renal impairment (GFR <30 mL/min/1.73 m²), the dose is reduced to 1 mg daily. Common side effects include headache, nausea, abdominal pain, and diarrhea, particularly during the initial phase of treatment. PRULAX 2 MG is contraindicated in individuals with severe renal impairment requiring dialysis, gastrointestinal perforation or obstruction, inflammatory bowel diseases, or hypersensitivity to prucalopride. As with any medication, it is important to follow the prescribed dosage and consult a healthcare provider regarding potential side effects or interactions with other treatments.
