Sporium Max 5 ml Ophthalmic Solution is a sterile eye drop manufactured by Incepta Pharmaceuticals Ltd., containing Cyclosporine 0.09%. It is indicated for increasing tear production in patients whose tear production is suppressed due to ocular inflammation associated with dry eye syndrome (keratoconjunctivitis sicca).
Cyclosporine acts as an immunomodulator by inhibiting calcineurin, leading to reduced T-cell activation and decreased inflammation in the lacrimal glands, thereby enhancing tear secretion. The recommended dosage is one drop in each affected eye twice daily, approximately 12 hours apart. It can be used concomitantly with artificial tears, allowing a 15-minute interval between products.
Common side effects include ocular burning, conjunctival hyperemia, discharge, epiphora, eye pain, foreign body sensation, pruritus, stinging, and visual disturbance (most often blurring). Sporium Max should not be administered while wearing contact lenses. If contact lenses are worn, they should be removed prior to the administration of the solution and may be reinserted 15 minutes following administration. This medication may cause blurred vision; patients should avoid activities requiring clear vision until they are sure they can perform such activities safely. Sporium Max is contraindicated in patients with active ocular infections and in those with known or suspected hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients in the formulation.
Sporium Max 5 ml Ophthalmic Solution is available in Bangladesh, with a unit price of approximately ৳300.00 per 5 ml bottle.
