Indications:
Telmipres is indicated for:
Essential hypertension
Cardiovascular risk reduction in patients at risk of myocardial infarction, stroke, or diabetes
Pharmacology:
Telmisartan selectively blocks angiotensin II type 1 receptors, preventing vasoconstriction and aldosterone secretion, resulting in vasodilation and lowered blood pressure.
Dosage & Administration:
Adults: Usually 40 mg once daily, can be adjusted up to 80 mg based on response.
Taken with or without food.
Interaction:
May interact with other antihypertensives, potassium supplements, NSAIDs, lithium.
Avoid use with aliskiren in diabetic patients.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to Telmisartan or components
Pregnancy and lactation
Bilateral renal artery stenosis
Side Effects:
Dizziness, headache, fatigue
Hyperkalemia, hypotension
Rare: angioedema
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Contraindicated in pregnancy and lactation.
Precautions & Warnings:
Monitor renal function and electrolytes periodically
Use cautiously in hepatic or renal impairment
Avoid abrupt discontinuation
