Description
Terazon 5 mg Tablet, manufactured by Incepta Pharmaceuticals Ltd., contains 5 mg of Terazosin Hydrochloride as its active ingredient. Terazosin is a selective alpha-1 adrenoceptor antagonist (alpha blocker) that works by relaxing the smooth muscles in blood vessels and the prostate. This action helps to lower blood pressure and alleviate symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), such as difficulty urinating. For the treatment of BPH, the typical starting dose is 1 mg at bedtime, which can be gradually increased to a usual maintenance dose of 5–10 mg once daily. In the management of hypertension, the initial dose is also 1 mg at bedtime, with gradual increases to a usual maintenance dose of 2–10 mg once daily. The first dose should be taken at bedtime to minimize the risk of postural hypotension. Terazon 5 mg Tablet is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Terazosin or other quinazoline derivatives. Common side effects may include dizziness, fatigue, and peripheral edema. It is recommended to monitor blood pressure regularly during treatment.
