Seasonix 5 mg Tablet contains Levocetirizine Dihydrochloride, the active (Levo) isomer of cetirizine, and is produced by Incepta Pharmaceuticals Ltd. . It is a non-sedating antihistamine with potent antiallergic properties, exhibiting twice the affinity for H1 receptors compared to cetirizine. Seasonix is indicated for the treatment of symptoms associated with allergic conditions such as perennial allergic rhinitis, seasonal allergic rhinitis, and chronic idiopathic urticaria. The recommended dosage for adults and children aged 12 years and older is 5 mg once daily. For children aged 6 to 11 years, the recommended dose is 2.5 mg once daily, and for children aged 6 months to 5 years, 1.25 mg once daily. In patients with renal impairment, dose adjustments are necessary. Seasonix is generally well-tolerated, with potential side effects including headache, dry mouth, fatigue, and skin rash. It is contraindicated in individuals with hypersensitivity to levocetirizine, cetirizine, or hydroxyzine, and should be used with caution in patients with renal impairment. Levocetirizine is excreted in breast milk; therefore, its use during breastfeeding is not recommended. As a non-sedating antihistamine, Seasonix is less likely to cause drowsiness compared to first-generation antihistamines, but caution should still be exercised when engaging in activities requiring mental alertness. It is advisable to store Seasonix at a temperature not exceeding 30°C in a dry place, protected from light.
