Sitagil 25 mg Tablet is an oral antihyperglycemic medication manufactured by Incepta Pharmaceuticals Ltd., containing Sitagliptin, a selective inhibitor of the enzyme dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4). Sitagliptin enhances the levels of incretin hormones, such as glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) and glucose-dependent insulinotropic polypeptide (GIP), which play a crucial role in regulating blood glucose levels. By inhibiting DPP-4, Sitagliptin increases insulin secretion and decreases glucagon release in a glucose-dependent manner, thereby improving glycemic control in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Sitagil 25 mg is typically administered once daily, with or without food. The dosage may vary based on renal function, with adjustments required for patients with moderate to severe renal impairment. Common side effects include nasopharyngitis, headache, upper respiratory tract infections, and gastrointestinal disturbances.
