MONTAIR 5 MG is a chewable tablet containing 5 milligrams of montelukast sodium. Montelukast is a leukotriene receptor antagonist used in children (typically aged 6-14 years) for the prevention and chronic treatment of asthma, the relief of symptoms of allergic rhinitis (both seasonal and perennial), and the acute prevention of exercise-induced bronchoconstriction. By blocking the action of leukotrienes, substances in the body that cause inflammation and airway narrowing, montelukast helps to ease breathing difficulties and reduce allergy symptoms in this age group. The chewable tablet form is designed to be easily taken by children. It is usually administered once daily in the evening for asthma and allergic rhinitis, or at least two hours before exercise for exercise-induced bronchoconstriction.
