Description
Nodia 10 mg is a disease-modifying antirheumatic drug (DMARD) containing leflunomide, developed by Incepta Pharmaceuticals Ltd. It is primarily prescribed for the treatment of active rheumatoid arthritis (RA) in adults. Leflunomide functions by inhibiting dihydroorotate dehydrogenase, an enzyme crucial for the de novo synthesis of pyrimidines, thereby suppressing the proliferation of activated T lymphocytes involved in the inflammatory process of RA. This mechanism helps reduce inflammation, alleviate symptoms, and slow the progression of joint damage associated with the disease. The typical dosing regimen begins with a loading dose of 100 mg once daily for 3 days, followed by a maintenance dose of 20 mg once daily. Common side effects may include diarrhea, nausea, headache, rash, and elevated liver enzymes. Nodia 10 mg is contraindicated in individuals with severe liver impairment, bone marrow disorders, or those who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
