Description
Nyclobate 20 gm is a topical ointment containing 0.05% clobetasol propionate, a potent corticosteroid manufactured by Incepta Pharmaceuticals Ltd. It is used to treat various inflammatory skin conditions, including psoriasis (excluding widespread plaque psoriasis), lichen planus, discoid lupus erythematosus, and other dermatoses unresponsive to less potent steroids. Clobetasol propionate exerts its effect by reducing inflammation, itching, and redness through vasoconstriction and inhibition of inflammatory mediators. The ointment formulation is particularly suitable for dry or scaly skin lesions. It is typically applied sparingly to the affected area once or twice daily until improvement occurs, and treatment should not exceed 7 days without medical supervision. Prolonged use may lead to side effects such as skin thinning, striae, or systemic absorption, especially when applied to large areas or under occlusion.
