Description
Each tablet contains Amlodipine Besilate BP equivalent to Amlodipine 5 mg and Atenolol BP 25 mg. Fixocard is a fixed-dose combination of Amlodipine, a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker, and Atenolol, a cardio-selective beta-blocker. Amlodipine inhibits calcium ion influx into vascular and cardiac smooth muscle, acting primarily on vascular smooth muscle to reduce peripheral vascular resistance and blood pressure. Atenolol reduces blood pressure by lowering cardiac output, decreasing plasma renin activity, and inhibiting sympathetic outflow from the central nervous system, with dose-related cardio-selectivity.
