Nodia 10 mg is a medication containing leflunomide, developed by Incepta Pharmaceuticals Ltd., used primarily in the treatment of active rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and psoriatic arthritis in adults. Leflunomide functions as an immunomodulatory agent by inhibiting the de novo synthesis of pyrimidines, which are essential for the proliferation of activated T lymphocytes involved in autoimmune responses. This mechanism helps to reduce inflammation, alleviate symptoms, and slow the progression of joint damage associated with these conditions. The typical dosing regimen begins with a loading dose of 100 mg once daily for 3 days, followed by a maintenance dose of 20 mg once daily. If side effects occur, the dose may be reduced to 10 mg daily. Common side effects include gastrointestinal disturbances such as diarrhea, nausea, and abdominal pain, as well as headache, rash, and elevated liver enzymes. Nodia 10 mg is contraindicated in individuals with significant hepatic impairment, bone marrow dysplasia, or severe uncontrolled infections, and its use is not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Regular monitoring of liver function and blood counts is advised during treatment.
