Description
Ticarel 90 mg Tablet is an antiplatelet medication that helps prevent the formation of harmful blood clots. It is primarily used to reduce the risk of cardiovascular events such as heart attacks, strokes, and stent thrombosis in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS), including those with unstable angina, non-ST elevation myocardial infarction (NSTEMI), or ST elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI). The active ingredient, ticagrelor, works by reversibly inhibiting the P2Y12 ADP receptor on platelets, thereby preventing ADP-mediated platelet activation and aggregation. This mechanism helps to decrease the likelihood of thrombotic events. Ticarel is typically administered as a 180 mg loading dose (two 90 mg tablets) followed by a maintenance dose of 90 mg twice daily, often in combination with aspirin.
