Description
Twynsta 125 mg Tablet is a combination antihypertensive medication manufactured by Incepta Pharmaceuticals Ltd. Each tablet contains Telmisartan 100 mg and Amlodipine 25 mg, combining the effects of an angiotensin II receptor blocker and a calcium channel blocker to effectively lower blood pressure. Telmisartan works by blocking the action of angiotensin II, a substance in the body that causes blood vessels to constrict, thereby relaxing blood vessels and lowering blood pressure. Amlodipine, a calcium channel blocker, inhibits calcium ion influx into vascular smooth muscle and cardiac muscle, leading to vasodilation and reduced blood pressure. This combination provides a complementary mechanism of action, enhancing the antihypertensive effect. Twynsta 125 mg is typically prescribed when blood pressure is not adequately controlled with either medication alone. It is taken orally, usually once daily, with or without food. Common side effects may include dizziness, swelling of the ankles or feet, and flushing. Patients should be monitored for potential side effects, especially during the initial treatment phase.
