Description
Tiginor 20 mg Tablet is a medication manufactured by Incepta Pharmaceuticals Ltd. in Bangladesh. Its active ingredient is Atorvastatin Calcium 20 mg, a synthetic lipid-lowering agent belonging to the statin class. Atorvastatin works by inhibiting HMG-CoA reductase, an enzyme responsible for cholesterol production in the liver, thereby reducing elevated levels of total cholesterol, low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol, apolipoprotein B (Apo-B), and triglycerides. This medication is primarily used as an adjunct to diet to manage conditions such as primary hypercholesterolemia (both heterozygous familial and nonfamilial), mixed dyslipidemia, homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia, hypertriglyceridemia, and primary dysbetalipoproteinemia. Additionally, it is indicated to reduce the risk of cardiovascular events in patients with coronary artery disease. Tiginor 20 mg Tablet is typically administered once daily, with or without food, and the dosage may be adjusted based on the patient's response and specific medical condition. Common side effects include constipation, flatulence, dyspepsia, and abdominal pain.
