Description
Zomitan 2.5 mg Tablet, manufactured by Incepta Pharmaceuticals Ltd., contains the active ingredient Zolmitriptan, a medication used for the acute treatment of migraine headaches with or without aura in adults. Zolmitriptan is a selective 5-HT1B/1D receptor agonist that works by constricting dilated blood vessels in the brain and inhibiting the release of pro-inflammatory neuropeptides, thereby alleviating migraine symptoms such as headache, nausea, and sensitivity to light and sound. The recommended starting dose is 2.5 mg, which can be taken as early as possible after the onset of a migraine attack. If symptoms persist or return within 24 hours, a second dose may be taken at least 2 hours after the first dose, but not exceeding a total of 10 mg in 24 hours. Zomitan is not intended for the prophylactic treatment of migraines. Common side effects may include dizziness, dry mouth, tingling sensations, and drowsiness. It is contraindicated in patients with a history of ischemic heart disease, stroke, or hypersensitivity to Zolmitriptan. Caution is advised when using Zomitan in patients with liver or kidney impairment. This medication should not be used during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless deemed necessary by a healthcare provider.
