Description
Warin 5 mg Tablet is an oral anticoagulant manufactured by Incepta Pharmaceuticals Ltd., containing 5 mg of warfarin sodium. Warfarin functions by inhibiting the synthesis of vitamin K-dependent clotting factors II, VII, IX, and X, thereby reducing blood clot formation. It is primarily indicated for the prophylaxis and treatment of thromboembolic disorders such as atrial fibrillation, cardiac valve replacement, venous thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, and to reduce the risk of stroke or systemic embolization following myocardial infarction. The anticoagulant effect typically begins within 24 hours of administration, reaching its peak within 36–48 hours, and persists for up to 48 hours after discontinuation. Dosage is individualized based on regular monitoring of prothrombin time (PT) and international normalized ratio (INR) to maintain therapeutic levels. Common side effects include bleeding complications, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, rash, alopecia, and jaundice. Warin is contraindicated in patients with active bleeding disorders, severe hepatic or renal impairment, pregnancy, and known hypersensitivity to warfarin. Regular monitoring and dosage adjustments are essential to minimize risks and ensure efficacy.
