Description
Tridosil 200 mg/5 ml Suspension is an oral antibiotic manufactured by Incepta Pharmaceuticals Ltd., containing Azithromycin Dihydrate as the active ingredient. Azithromycin is a macrolide antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit, thereby interfering with the growth and multiplication of bacteria. It is effective against a wide range of bacterial infections, including upper and lower respiratory tract infections (such as bronchitis, pneumonia, sinusitis, and pharyngitis), otitis media (middle ear infections), skin and soft tissue infections, and sexually transmitted infections like non-gonococcal urethritis and cervicitis caused by Chlamydia trachomatis. The recommended dosage varies based on the type and severity of the infection, as well as the patient's age and weight. For children, the typical dosage is 10 mg/kg body weight once daily for 3 days. The suspension should be reconstituted by adding 10 ml of just boiled and cooled water to the powder in the bottle, shaking well to mix uniformly. Common side effects may include gastrointestinal disturbances such as nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal pain. It is important to complete the full course of treatment as prescribed to prevent the development of antibiotic-resistant bacteria.
