OMENIX 20 mg Sachet is an oral powder formulation containing omeprazole, a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) produced by Incepta Pharmaceuticals Ltd. It is primarily used to treat acid-related gastrointestinal disorders, including gastric and duodenal ulcers, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), acid reflux disease, dyspepsia, severe reflux esophagitis, and Zollinger-Ellison syndrome.
The recommended dosage for adults is typically 20 mg once daily, taken before meals. For Helicobacter pylori eradication in peptic ulcer disease, OMENIX 20 mg is often used in combination with antimicrobial agents such as amoxicillin and metronidazole or clarithromycin. In pediatric cases of severe ulcerating reflux esophagitis, the dosage is adjusted based on body weight. The medication works by inhibiting the proton pump in the stomach lining, thereby reducing gastric acid secretion. After oral administration, the antisecretory effect begins within about an hour, peaks in two hours, and lasts up to 72 hours.
