OLIDA 200 mg is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) containing sulindac, produced by Incepta Pharmaceuticals Ltd. It is primarily used to alleviate pain and inflammation associated with conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, acute gouty arthritis, acute painful shoulder, and subacromial bursitis. Sulindac works by inhibiting the cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes, which are involved in the production of prostaglandins that mediate inflammation and pain. The typical dosage is 200 mg taken twice daily with food to minimize gastrointestinal side effects. The maximum recommended daily dose is 400 mg. Common side effects may include gastrointestinal discomfort, nausea, headache, and dizziness. Serious adverse effects, though rare, can include gastrointestinal bleeding, liver damage, kidney problems, and cardiovascular events such as heart attack or stroke.
