AROCEF 500MG is indicated for:
Bacterial infections of the respiratory tract (e.g., bronchitis, pneumonia).
Urinary tract infections (UTIs).
Skin and soft tissue infections.
Bone and joint infections.
Certain sexually transmitted infections (e.g., gonorrhea).
Pharmacology
Cefuroxime is a second-generation cephalosporin that inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to cell death. It is effective against a wide range of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.
Dosage and Administration
Usual dose: 500 mg twice daily for 7-10 days, or as directed by a physician.
Administer orally after meals for optimal absorption.
Dosage adjustments may be required for renal impairment.
Interaction
Reduced efficacy when taken with antacids or H2 blockers.
May enhance the nephrotoxic effect of aminoglycosides or diuretics.
May interfere with glucose tests in urine.
Contraindications
Known hypersensitivity to Cefuroxime or other cephalosporins.
History of severe allergic reactions to penicillins.
Side Effects
Common: Diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain, or rash.

Pregnancy & Lactation

Caution is advised during breastfeeding as Cefuroxime can pass into breast milk.
Precautions & Warnings
Use cautiously in patients with a history of gastrointestinal diseases, particularly colitis.
Regular monitoring of renal and hepatic function is recommended for prolonged use.
