Indications:
Nabumet 1000mg Tablet is indicated for the relief of signs and symptoms of osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.
Pharmacology:
Nabumetone is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that works by inhibiting the cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes, leading to a decrease in the production of prostaglandins, substances in the body involved in inflammation, pain, and fever.
Dosage:
Osteoarthritis and Rheumatoid Arthritis:
Starting dose: 1000 mg once daily.
Maintenance dose: 1000–2000 mg per day, administered once daily or in two divided doses.
Maximum dose: 2000 mg per day.
Administration:
Nabumet 1000mg Tablet should be taken orally, with or without food, as directed by your healthcare provider.
Interaction:
Concomitant use of Nabumetone with other NSAIDs, anticoagulants, or corticosteroids may increase the risk of gastrointestinal bleeding. Caution is advised when used with antihypertensive agents, diuretics, or lithium.
Contraindications:
Nabumet 1000mg Tablet is contraindicated in patients with a known hypersensitivity to Nabumetone or any component of the formulation, and in those with a history of gastrointestinal bleeding or ulceration.
Side Effects:
Common: Gastrointestinal discomfort, nausea, headache, dizziness.
Serious: Gastrointestinal bleeding, liver dysfunction, renal impairment, cardiovascular events.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Pregnancy: Use during pregnancy, especially in the third trimester, is not recommended due to potential risks to the fetus.
Lactation: It is not known whether Nabumetone is excreted in human breast milk. Caution should be exercised when administered to a nursing woman.
Precautions & Warnings:
Patients with a history of cardiovascular disease, gastrointestinal disorders, or renal impairment should use Nabumetone with caution. Regular monitoring of liver and kidney function is recommended during prolonged therapy.
