Pharmacology:
Glimepiride, the active ingredient, belongs to the sulfonylurea class of oral hypoglycemic agents. It enhances insulin secretion from pancreatic beta cells and improves insulin sensitivity in peripheral tissues, resulting in better glucose utilization.
Dosage and Administration:
Dosage:
Starting dose: 1-2 mg daily, adjusted based on blood sugar levels.
Maximum dose: 8 mg daily.
Administration:
Take with breakfast or the first main meal of the day.
Avoid skipping meals to reduce the risk of hypoglycemia.
Interaction:
