GTN SR 2.6 MG Tablet is indicated for:
Prevention of Angina Pectoris: To prevent chest pain associated with coronary artery disease.
Glyceryl trinitrate acts by releasing nitric oxide, which relaxes vascular smooth muscles, leading to vasodilation. This process reduces myocardial oxygen demand and improves blood flow to the heart.
Dosage: As prescribed by a physician, typically taken once or twice daily.
Administration: Swallow the tablet whole with water. Do not crush or chew. It may be taken with or without food, preferably at the same time each day.
Increased Risk of Hypotension: When taken with alcohol, antihypertensives, or phosphodiesterase inhibitors (e.g., sildenafil).
Potential for Tolerance: Continuous use may lead to decreased effectiveness; a dosing schedule with a nitrate-free interval is recommended to prevent tolerance.
Hypersensitivity to nitrates.
Severe anemia.
Increased intracranial pressure.
Concurrent use with phosphodiesterase inhibitors.
Common: Headache, dizziness, lightheadedness, hypotension, flushing.
Rare: Methemoglobinemia, severe hypotension.
Pregnancy: Use only if clearly needed and prescribed by a healthcare provider.
Lactation: Consult a physician before use, as safety data is limited.
Avoid sudden discontinuation to prevent rebound angina.
