Indications:
ZOFRA ODT 8MG is indicated for preventing nausea and vomiting caused by cancer chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and postoperative recovery.
Pharmacology:
Ondansetron is a selective 5-HT3 receptor antagonist that blocks serotonin receptors in the central and peripheral nervous systems, reducing nausea and vomiting reflexes.
Dosage:
Adults: Usually 8 mg given 30 minutes before chemotherapy or as prescribed by the doctor.
The orally disintegrating tablet dissolves quickly on the tongue without water.
Administration:
Place the tablet on the tongue and allow it to dissolve completely before swallowing.
Interaction:
Use caution with drugs that prolong QT interval, apomorphine, and serotonergic agents.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to ondansetron or any component of the tablet.
Side Effects:
Common side effects include headache, constipation, dizziness, and rare allergic reactions.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Use only when clearly needed and prescribed by a physician.
Precautions & Warnings:
Monitor liver function in patients with impairment.
