Indications:
PG 75MG is indicated for the management of neuropathic pain associated with diabetic peripheral neuropathy, postherpetic neuralgia, adjunctive therapy for adult patients with partial seizures, and generalized anxiety disorder (GAD).
Pharmacology:
Pregabalin, a structural analogue of GABA, binds to the α2-δ subunit of voltage-gated calcium channels in the CNS. This action decreases calcium influx at nerve terminals, reducing the release of excitatory neurotransmitters involved in pain and seizure pathways.
Dosage:
Typically, 75 mg is taken once or twice daily. The dose may be increased based on therapeutic response and tolerability, under physician supervision.
Administration:
Administer orally, with or without food. Swallow the capsule whole with a sufficient amount of water.
Interaction:
May interact with CNS depressants like opioids, benzodiazepines, and alcohol, enhancing sedation. Monitor closely if used concurrently with antidiabetic or antihypertensive medications.
Contraindications:
Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Pregabalin or its ingredients.
Side Effects:
Common adverse effects include dizziness, drowsiness, weight gain, dry mouth, blurred vision, peripheral edema, and difficulty with concentration.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Use only if clearly necessary and prescribed by a physician. Caution is advised as Pregabalin can pass into breast milk.
Precautions & Warnings:
Avoid sudden withdrawal to prevent insomnia, nausea, and headache. Exercise caution in patients with renal impairment. May impair ability to drive or operate machinery.
Therapeutic Class:
Neuropathic pain agents, antiepileptic agents.
Storage Conditions:
Store at a temperature below 30°C, in a dry place protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
