Indications:
Used for treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), acid reflux symptoms, delayed gastric emptying, and related motility disorders.
Pharmacology:
Omeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor reducing gastric acid secretion. Domperidone is a dopamine antagonist that enhances gastrointestinal motility and reduces nausea.
Dosage:
Generally, one tablet once daily before meals or as prescribed by the physician.
Administration:
Oral administration; swallow whole without crushing or chewing.
Interaction:
May interact with ketoconazole, erythromycin, and other drugs affecting gastric motility or metabolized by liver enzymes.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to Omeprazole, Domperidone, or related drugs
Patients with prolactinoma or gastrointestinal hemorrhage
Side Effects:
Possible side effects include dry mouth, headache, dizziness, abdominal cramps, and diarrhea.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Use only if clearly needed and prescribed by a doctor. Safety in pregnancy and lactation not well established.
Precautions & Warnings:
Monitor for symptoms of extrapyramidal reactions due to Domperidone.
Use cautiously in patients with liver impairment.
Avoid use in children below 12 years unless directed.
