Indications:
Treatment of nausea and vomiting caused by gastrointestinal disorders, delayed gastric emptying, and to improve gastric motility.
Pharmacology:
Domperidone is a dopamine antagonist that works by blocking dopamine receptors in the gut, enhancing gastric emptying and reducing nausea.
Dosage:
Usually 10 mg taken 3 times daily, 15-30 minutes before meals or as prescribed by the doctor.
Administration:
Oral tablets to be swallowed with water; avoid crushing or chewing.
Interaction:
May interact with ketoconazole, erythromycin, and other drugs that affect heart rhythm or gastric motility.
Contraindications:
Known hypersensitivity to Domperidone
Prolactinoma patients
Gastrointestinal hemorrhage
Side Effects:
Possible side effects include dry mouth, headache, dizziness, abdominal cramps, and rare cardiac effects.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Use only if clearly needed and prescribed; consult doctor before use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Precautions & Warnings:
Monitor for extrapyramidal symptoms.
Use with caution in patients with liver impairment or heart conditions.
