AUGMENT (PFS) 100ML SYRUP is indicated for the treatment of:
Upper respiratory tract infections (e.g., tonsillitis, sinusitis, otitis media)
Lower respiratory tract infections (e.g., bronchitis, pneumonia)
Urinary tract infections (e.g., cystitis, pyelonephritis)
Skin and soft tissue infections
Bone and joint infections (e.g., osteomyelitis)
Pharmacology
Amoxicillin is a penicillin-type antibiotic that inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to cell death. Clavulanic Acid is a beta-lactamase inhibitor that prevents certain bacteria from destroying Amoxicillin, thereby extending its spectrum of activity.
Dosage and Administration
Dosage is based on the Amoxicillin component and the severity of the infection.
For children under 12 weeks: 30 mg/kg/day divided every 12 hours.
For children over 12 weeks and weighing less than 40 kg: 20-40 mg/kg/day in divided doses every 8 hours or 25-45 mg/kg/day in divided doses every 12 hours.
For adults and children weighing 40 kg or more: standard adult dosing applies.
Administer with meals to enhance absorption and reduce gastrointestinal discomfort.
Shake the bottle well before each use.
Reconstituted suspension should be stored in a refrigerator and used within 10 days.
Interaction
May interact with anticoagulants, leading to prolonged bleeding time.
Concurrent use with allopurinol may increase the risk of allergic skin reactions.
May reduce the efficacy of oral contraceptives.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to penicillins, cephalosporins, or any component of the formulation.
History of cholestatic jaundice or hepatic dysfunction associated with Amoxicillin/Clavulanic Acid.
Side Effects
Common: Diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, skin rash.
Rare: Hepatic dysfunction, cholestatic jaundice, hypersensitivity reactions.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Use during pregnancy only if clearly needed and prescribed by a physician.
Caution is advised when administered to nursing mothers.
Precautions & Warnings
Monitor liver function in patients with hepatic impairment.
Use with caution in patients with renal impairment; dosage adjustment may be necessary.
Prolonged use may result in overgrowth of non-susceptible organisms.

Storage Conditions
Store the dry powder at room temperature, away from moisture and heat.
After reconstitution, store the suspension in a refrigerator (2°C to 8°C) and discard any unused portion after 10 days.
