Indications:
KEFUCLAV 500MG Tablet is indicated for the treatment of:
Respiratory tract infections (e.g., pneumonia, bronchitis).
Severe skin and soft tissue infections.
Complicated urinary tract infections.
Sinusitis, otitis media, and other bacterial infections.
Pharmacology:
Cefuroxime is a broad-spectrum second-generation cephalosporin that inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis, resulting in bacterial cell death. Clavulanic acid is a beta-lactamase inhibitor, preventing bacterial resistance and enhancing the antibiotic's effectiveness.
Dosage:
Adults: One 500 mg tablet twice daily or as directed by the physician.
Adjustments may be necessary based on infection severity and patient condition.
Administration:
Take orally with or after food to ensure optimal absorption and minimize gastrointestinal side effects. Swallow the tablet whole with water.
Interaction:
May interact with anticoagulants, increasing bleeding risk.
Efficacy may decrease if taken with antacids or proton pump inhibitors.
Contraindications:
Known hypersensitivity to cephalosporins, penicillins, or any other components of the formulation.
Not recommended for patients with severe hepatic or renal impairment without medical guidance.
Side Effects:
Common side effects include diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, headache, and rash. Rarely, severe allergic reactions, liver dysfunction, or Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea may occur.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Can be used during pregnancy if prescribed by a physician after risk assessment.
Excreted in breast milk; use with caution during breastfeeding.

Use with caution in patients with a history of gastrointestinal conditions, such as colitis.
