Indications:
Short-term management of insomnia including difficulty falling asleep and frequent waking
Sleep disturbances caused by stress or other underlying conditions
Pharmacology:
Temazepam is a benzodiazepine that enhances the effect of the inhibitory neurotransmitter GABA in the CNS, promoting sedation, muscle relaxation, and sleep.
Dosage & Administration:
Adults: Typically 15-40 mg at bedtime
Dosage adjusted based on patient response and severity of symptoms
Should be taken immediately before going to bed
Recommended for short-term use only (7-10 days) to minimize dependence risk
Interaction:
Enhanced sedative effects with alcohol, opioids, and other CNS depressants
Potential interactions with other benzodiazepines, anticonvulsants, and antidepressants
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to temazepam or benzodiazepines

Myasthenia gravis
