Indications:

Menopausal symptoms such as hot flashes, night sweats, and vaginal dryness
Prevention and treatment of postmenopausal osteoporosis

Pharmacology:
Tibolone is a synthetic steroid with estrogenic, progestogenic, and androgenic properties. It is metabolized into three active metabolites: 3α-hydroxytibolone and 3β-hydroxytibolone (estrogenic effects), and the Δ4-isomer (progestogenic and androgenic effects). These metabolites act on various tissues to alleviate menopausal symptoms and prevent bone loss.

Dosage & Administration:

Adults: 2.5 mg orally once daily
Administration: Swallow the tablet whole with water, at the same time each day
Starting Treatment: Initiate at least 12 months after the last natural menstrual period or immediately in women with surgical menopause
Switching from HRT: Begin tibolone the day after completing a sequential HRT regimen or at any time after a continuous-combined HRT regimen

Interaction:

May interact with enzyme-inducing drugs like barbiturates, carbamazepine, and rifampicin, potentially reducing tibolone's effectiveness
May enhance the effects of anticoagulants due to increased fibrinolytic activity
