GLIKAZID MR 30MG Tablet is indicated for:
Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus: To control blood glucose levels in patients who are inadequately controlled by diet, exercise, and lifestyle changes.
Gliclazide is a second-generation sulfonylurea that acts by stimulating pancreatic beta cells to release insulin. The modified-release formulation ensures sustained glycemic control throughout the day, reducing fluctuations in blood sugar levels.
Dosage:
Start with 30mg once daily. Adjust dose based on glycemic response, up to a maximum of 120mg daily.
Administration:
Take orally with water during breakfast. Do not crush or chew the tablet.
Increased Hypoglycemic Risk: With other antidiabetic drugs, alcohol, beta-blockers.
Reduced Efficacy: With corticosteroids, diuretics, or hormonal contraceptives.
Hypersensitivity to Gliclazide or other sulfonylureas.
Type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis.
Severe renal or hepatic impairment.
Common: Hypoglycemia, dizziness, headache, and nausea.
Rare: Allergic skin reactions, gastrointestinal upset, or abnormal liver function tests.
Pregnancy: Not recommended. Insulin is preferred for diabetes management during pregnancy.

Regular monitoring of blood glucose is essential to avoid hypoglycemia.
