Indications:

Solbion is indicated for the treatment of Vitamin B1, B6, and B12 deficiencies and related neurological disorders, including:

  • Polyneuropathy

  • Diabetic neuropathy

  • Neuritis

  • Neuralgia

  • Cervical syndrome

  • Shoulder-arm syndrome

  • Lumbago

  • Sciatica

  • Myalgia

  • Intercostal neuralgia

  • Herpes Zoster

  • Trigeminal Neuralgia

  • Supportive treatment in facial paresis

Pharmacology:

  • Vitamin B1 (Thiamine): Converts carbohydrates, fatty acids, and amino acids into energy; promotes healthy nerves; improves mood; strengthens the heart.

  • Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine): Forms red blood cells; helps cells make proteins; manufactures neurotransmitters like serotonin; releases stored forms of energy; helps prevent cardiovascular diseases and stroke; lifts depression; eases insomnia.

  • Vitamin B12 (Cyanocobalamin): Essential for cell replication; important for red blood cell production; prevents anemia; helps prevent depression; reduces nerve pain, numbness, and tingling; lowers the risk of heart diseases.

Dosage:

  • Tablet: 1 to 3 tablets per day or as directed by the physician.

  • Injection: In severe cases, 1 injection daily until acute symptoms subside. For milder cases and follow-up therapy, 2 to 3 injections per week.

Administration:

  • Tablet: Take with or without food; swallow whole with a glass of water.

  • Injection: Administered intramuscularly (deep intragluteal).

Interaction:

  • Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine) may reduce the therapeutic effect of Levodopa; this interaction does not occur if a dopa decarboxylase inhibitor is also given.

  • Neomycin, Chloramphenicol, Aminosalicylates, and H2 receptor antagonists may reduce Vitamin B12 absorption.

Contraindications:

  • Hypersensitivity to any of its ingredients.

  • Patients on Levodopa therapy.

Side Effects:

  • Generally well-tolerated.

  • Rare allergic reactions may occur.

Pregnancy & Lactation:

  • Oral tablet form is recommended.

  • Injectable form contains benzyl alcohol; not recommended during pregnancy and lactation.

Precautions & Warnings:

  • Cyanocobalamin should not be given before a diagnosis has been fully established to avoid masking symptoms of subacute degeneration of the spinal cord.

  • Not suitable for the treatment of optic neuropathies associated with raised plasma concentrations of cyanocobalamin.
