Pharmacology:
Spironolactone, the active ingredient, is a potassium-sparing diuretic that antagonizes aldosterone receptors in the distal nephron. It inhibits sodium reabsorption while retaining potassium and hydrogen ions, helping regulate blood pressure and reduce fluid overload.
