Indications:
ZOFRA ODT 4MG is indicated for preventing nausea and vomiting caused by cancer chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and postoperative conditions.
Pharmacology:
Ondansetron is a selective 5-HT3 receptor antagonist that blocks serotonin receptors centrally and peripherally, reducing nausea and vomiting.
Dosage:
Adults: Typically 8 mg taken 30 minutes before chemotherapy or as prescribed.
The ODT formulation dissolves rapidly on the tongue without water.
Administration:
Place the tablet on the tongue and allow it to dissolve completely before swallowing.
Interaction:
Caution with drugs that prolong QT interval, apomorphine, and serotonergic agents.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to ondansetron or ingredients.
Side Effects:
Headache, constipation, dizziness, and rare allergic reactions may occur.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Use only if clearly needed and prescribed by a doctor.
Precautions & Warnings:
Monitor patients with liver impairment.
Use with caution in patients prone to arrhythmias.
