Treatment of deep vein thrombosis (DVT)
Treatment of pulmonary embolism (PE)
Prevention of recurrence of DVT and PE after initial treatment
Pharmacology:
Rivaroxaban is a highly selective, oral direct Factor Xa inhibitor. It inhibits thrombin generation and fibrin clot formation by directly inhibiting Factor Xa. It provides predictable anticoagulant effects and has high oral bioavailability.

Initial treatment of DVT/PE: 15 mg twice daily with food for the first 21 days
After 21 days, switch to 20 mg once daily as maintenance dose
Dosage adjustment required in renal impairment

Therapeutic Class:
Oral Anticoagulant – Direct Factor Xa Inhibitor
