Indications:
Treatment of insomnia with associated anxiety
Short-term management of anxiety disorders with sleep disturbances
Pharmacology:
Temazepam enhances GABA receptor activity producing sedation and hypnotic effects. Alprazolam, a benzodiazepine, exerts anxiolytic effects by modulating GABA in the CNS, reducing anxiety and improving sleep.
Dosage & Administration:
Adults: Usually one tablet at bedtime or as directed by a physician
Taken immediately before sleep
Use limited to short-term to avoid dependence
Interaction:
Increased sedation with alcohol, CNS depressants, and other benzodiazepines
May interact with antidepressants and anticonvulsants
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to temazepam, alprazolam, or benzodiazepines
Severe respiratory depression
Myasthenia gravis
Sleep apnea syndrome
Side Effects:
Drowsiness, dizziness, fatigue
Possible memory impairment and coordination issues
Risk of dependence and withdrawal with prolonged use
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Avoid use unless prescribed by a doctor. Consult before use during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Precautions & Warnings:
Avoid alcohol and operating machinery
Use lowest effective dose for shortest duration
Caution in elderly and in hepatic or renal impairment
