Indications:
Surliv is indicated for the treatment and support of various liver disorders, including hepatitis, alcoholic liver disease, liver cirrhosis, fatty liver, and drug-induced liver damage.
Pharmacology:
Silymarin, the active ingredient in Surliv, is a flavonoid complex extracted from milk thistle (Silybum marianum). It exhibits hepatoprotective, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory properties by stabilizing liver cell membranes and promoting protein synthesis.
Dosage & Administration:
The recommended dose is usually 150 mg 2-3 times daily with meals, or as directed by a physician. Duration depends on the clinical condition and patient response.
Interaction:
Silymarin may interact with medications metabolized by the liver, such as warfarin, phenytoin, or oral contraceptives. However, interactions are generally minimal.
Contraindications:
Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Silymarin or any of its components.
Side Effects:
Generally well tolerated. Mild gastrointestinal discomfort, allergic reactions (rash, itching), and headache may occur in some cases.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Safety in pregnancy and lactation has not been well established. Should be used only if clearly needed and under medical supervision.
Precautions & Warnings:
Use cautiously in patients with hormone-sensitive conditions, as Silymarin may have mild estrogenic effects. Monitor liver enzymes periodically during prolonged use.
Therapeutic Class:
Hepatoprotective & Antioxidant Supplements
Storage Conditions:
Store in a cool (below 30°C), dry place away from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
