Primarily indicated for the management of severe anxiety disorders, acute agitation, and tension by calming the central nervous system.
EMAZID contains Diazepam, a benzodiazepine that enhances the action of gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), an inhibitory neurotransmitter. This reduces the activity of the brain, producing a calming and sedative effect.
Adult Dose: Standard dose is 25mg as directed by a physician, typically administered once or twice daily based on severity.
Do not exceed the prescribed dose.
Administration: Swallow the tablet whole with water. Can be taken with or without food. Avoid alcohol.
Avoid concomitant use with alcohol, opioids, or other CNS depressants as it may cause excessive sedation.
May interact with antifungal agents, antacids, and certain antidepressants.
Hypersensitivity to Diazepam or any benzodiazepine derivative.
Patients with severe respiratory issues, sleep apnea, or significant liver impairment.
Common: Drowsiness, dizziness, blurred vision, dry mouth.
Severe: Respiratory depression, dependency, confusion in elderly patients.
Contraindicated during pregnancy as it may harm the fetus.
Not recommended for breastfeeding mothers due to secretion in breast milk.
Long-term use may lead to physical and psychological dependency.
Avoid activities requiring alertness (e.g., driving) after consumption.
