Indications:
Stiba 10 mg is indicated for the symptomatic treatment of:
Seasonal and perennial allergic rhinitis
Chronic idiopathic urticaria
Pharmacology:
Stiba 10 mg contains Ebastine, a second-generation, long-acting, non-sedating histamine H1 receptor antagonist. It is rapidly absorbed and extensively metabolized to its active metabolite, carebastine, which provides prolonged antihistaminic activity without significant sedation.
Dosage:
Adults and children over 12 years: 10 mg once daily.
Children 6 to 12 years: 5 mg once daily.
Administration:
Stiba 10 mg can be taken with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole with water.
Interaction:
Concurrent use with ketoconazole or erythromycin may increase plasma levels of Ebastine.
Avoid consuming grapefruit juice while taking this medication.
Contraindications:
Known hypersensitivity to Ebastine or any component of the formulation.
Severe hepatic impairment.
Side Effects:
Common: Headache, dry mouth, drowsiness.
Less common: Abdominal pain, nausea, dyspepsia, sinusitis, pharyngitis.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Use during pregnancy only if clearly needed and prescribed by a physician.
Caution is advised when administered to nursing mothers.
Precautions & Warnings:
Use with caution in patients with QT interval prolongation or those on medications affecting the QT interval.
Avoid alcohol consumption as it may enhance drowsiness.
