Indications:
QUINOX 500MG is indicated for the treatment of infections caused by susceptible bacteria including respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, gastrointestinal infections, and skin and soft tissue infections.
Pharmacology:
QUINOX contains Ofloxacin, a fluoroquinolone antibiotic that inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, enzymes necessary for bacterial DNA replication, transcription, repair, and recombination. This leads to bacterial cell death.
Dosage:
Adults: 1 tablet (500 mg) twice daily or as prescribed by the physician.
Duration depends on infection severity and type.
Administration:
Take orally with water, preferably after meals to reduce gastrointestinal discomfort. Complete full course even if symptoms improve.
Interaction:
May interact with antacids, iron supplements, sucralfate, and multivitamins containing zinc or magnesium. Take these at least 2 hours before or after QUINOX.
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to ofloxacin or other quinolones, pregnancy, breastfeeding, and children under 18 years due to risk of joint toxicity.
Side Effects:
Common side effects include nausea, diarrhea, headache, dizziness, and rash. Rare but serious effects include tendon rupture and CNS effects.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Not recommended during pregnancy and breastfeeding unless benefits outweigh risks. Consult physician.
Precautions & Warnings:
Avoid excessive sunlight or UV exposure. Use with caution in patients with CNS disorders or history of seizures.
