Indications:
ZATRAL 10MG is indicated for the treatment of functional symptoms of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH), including urinary hesitancy, weak stream, and incomplete bladder emptying.
Pharmacology:
Alfuzosin is an alpha-1 adrenergic receptor blocker. It selectively blocks alpha-1 receptors in the prostate, bladder neck, and urethra, leading to relaxation of smooth muscles and improving urinary outflow. It does not significantly affect blood pressure in most patients.
Dosage:
Adults (men only): One tablet (10 mg) once daily, preferably after the same meal each day.
Do not crush or chew the tablet.
Administration:
Administer after food to reduce the risk of postural hypotension. Swallow the tablet whole with water.
Interaction:
Caution when used with antihypertensive drugs, nitrates, or other alpha-blockers due to increased risk of hypotension. Use with CYP3A4 inhibitors like ketoconazole may increase alfuzosin levels.
Contraindications:
Known hypersensitivity to Alfuzosin or any ingredient
History of orthostatic hypotension
Severe liver insufficiency
Side Effects:
May include dizziness, headache, fatigue, hypotension, gastrointestinal discomfort, and rarely, fainting or irregular heartbeat.
