Indications:
Voltagel 10 G is indicated for the local treatment of pain, inflammation, and swelling in conditions such as osteoarthritis, sprains, strains, back pain, and soft tissue injuries.
Pharmacology:
Voltagel contains Diclofenac Diethylamine, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that inhibits cyclooxygenase (COX), an enzyme responsible for prostaglandin synthesis, thereby reducing pain and inflammation. When applied topically, it penetrates the skin to act directly on affected tissues.
Dosage:
Apply a small amount (2–4g depending on area) to the affected area 3–4 times daily or as directed by the physician.
Administration:
For external use only. Massage gently into the skin over the affected area until fully absorbed. Avoid contact with eyes, mucous membranes, or broken skin.
Interaction:
Minimal systemic absorption, hence interactions are rare. However, caution should be taken if used with other NSAIDs or anticoagulants.
Contraindications:
Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to diclofenac or other NSAIDs, history of asthma, urticaria, or allergic-type reactions after aspirin or other NSAIDs. Not to be applied on damaged or eczematous skin.
Side Effects:
Local side effects may include skin irritation, rash, itching, or redness. Systemic side effects are rare due to limited absorption.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Not recommended during the third trimester of pregnancy. Use with caution and under medical supervision during the first and second trimesters and lactation.
Precautions & Warnings:
Avoid long-term use over large areas. Wash hands after application. Discontinue if skin irritation occurs. Do not use with occlusive dressings.
