FACID 15G Ointment is indicated for the treatment of:
Impetigo: A highly contagious bacterial skin infection, commonly in children.
Infected Dermatitis: Inflammation of the skin complicated by bacterial infection.
Furunculosis: Boils caused by Staphylococcus bacteria.
Infected Cuts and Wounds: Prevention and treatment of secondary bacterial infections in minor injuries.
The active ingredient, Fusidic Acid, works by inhibiting bacterial protein synthesis. It is effective against a broad range of gram-positive bacteria, including Staphylococcus aureus. This localized action minimizes systemic side effects.
Dosage: Apply a thin layer of ointment to the affected area 2-3 times daily or as directed by a physician.
Administration: Clean the affected area thoroughly before application. Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes.
Minimal systemic absorption reduces the likelihood of drug interactions.
Avoid using alongside other topical antibiotics unless prescribed.
Known hypersensitivity to Fusidic Acid or any of the ointment's components.
Not recommended for viral or fungal skin infections.
Common: Mild irritation or redness at the application site.
Rare: Allergic reactions, including rash or swelling.
Pregnancy: Generally considered safe but should be used under medical advice.
Lactation: Safe for use; avoid application on the breast area to prevent ingestion by nursing infants.
Use only as prescribed. Prolonged or excessive use may lead to bacterial resistance.
Avoid covering large areas with occlusive dressings unless directed by a healthcare provider.
Discontinue if severe irritation or allergic reaction occurs.
