Indications:
Napdas 500mg Tablet is indicated for the relief of pain and inflammation associated with:
Osteoarthritis
Rheumatoid arthritis
Ankylosing spondylitis
Acute gout
Primary dysmenorrhea
Acute tendonitis and bursitis
Acute musculoskeletal disorders
General pain relief
Pharmacology:
Naproxen Sodium is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that works by inhibiting cyclooxygenase (COX) enzymes, leading to a decrease in the production of prostaglandins, substances in the body involved in inflammation, pain, and fever.
Dosage:
Rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, ankylosing spondylitis:
Starting dose: 500 mg once daily.
Maintenance dose: 500–1000 mg per day, administered once daily or in two divided doses.
Maximum dose: 1000 mg per day.
Acute gout:
750 mg initially, followed by 250 mg every 8 hours until the attack subsides.
Primary dysmenorrhea:
500 mg initially, followed by 250 mg every 6–8 hours as needed.
Acute tendonitis and bursitis:
500 mg initially, followed by 250 mg every 6–8 hours as needed.
Acute musculoskeletal disorders:
500 mg initially, followed by 250 mg every 6–8 hours as needed.
Administration:
Take Napdas 500mg Tablet orally with water, preferably after meals to minimize gastrointestinal discomfort.
Interaction:
Concomitant use of Naproxen Sodium with other NSAIDs, anticoagulants, or corticosteroids may increase the risk of gastrointestinal bleeding. Caution is advised when used with antihypertensive agents, diuretics, or lithium.
Contraindications:
Napdas 500mg Tablet is contraindicated in individuals with:
Known hypersensitivity to Naproxen Sodium or any component of the formulation
A history of gastrointestinal bleeding or ulceration
Severe renal impairment
Active peptic ulcer disease
Third trimester of pregnancy
Side Effects:
Common: Gastrointestinal discomfort, nausea, headache, dizziness, rash, pruritus.
Serious: Gastrointestinal bleeding, liver dysfunction, renal impairment, cardiovascular events.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Pregnancy: Use during pregnancy, especially in the third trimester, is not recommended due to potential risks to the fetus.
Lactation: Naproxen Sodium is excreted in breast milk; caution is advised when administered to a nursing woman.
Precautions & Warnings:
Patients with a history of cardiovascular disease, gastrointestinal disorders, or renal impairment should use Napdas with caution. Regular monitoring of liver and kidney function is recommended during prolonged therapy.
