Indications:
Used for treatment of hypertension, congestive heart failure, post-myocardial infarction, and for reducing risk of cardiovascular events. -
Pharmacology:
Ramipril inhibits angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE), leading to vasodilation, reduced blood pressure, and decreased workload on the heart. -
Dosage:
Typical dosage is 2.5-10 mg once daily, adjusted according to patient response. -
Administration:
Orally administered, preferably at the same time daily, with or without food. -
Interaction:
May interact with diuretics, potassium supplements, NSAIDs, and other antihypertensive drugs. -
Contraindications:
History of angioedema related to ACE inhibitors, pregnancy, bilateral renal artery stenosis. -
Side Effects:
Common side effects include cough, dizziness, hypotension, hyperkalemia, and rash. -
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Contraindicated during pregnancy; use with caution during breastfeeding. -
Precautions & Warnings:
Monitor kidney function and potassium levels regularly. Use cautiously in patients with renal impairment. -
