Indications:
MEPOGEST 5 MG is indicated for treating menstrual disorders such as amenorrhea, abnormal uterine bleeding, endometriosis, and as part of hormone replacement therapy.
Pharmacology:
Medroxyprogesterone acetate is a synthetic progestin that imitates natural progesterone. It regulates the menstrual cycle by acting on the uterine lining and suppressing gonadotropin secretion to prevent ovulation.
Dosage:

Typically 5 mg daily for 5 to 10 days per menstrual cycle or as prescribed by the physician.
Administration:
Take orally with or without food at the same time each day for best results.
Interaction:
May interact with enzyme-inducing drugs like rifampicin, phenytoin, and barbiturates which can reduce its effectiveness.
Contraindications:

Hypersensitivity to medroxyprogesterone or formulation ingredients.

Active thromboembolic disease.

Known or suspected breast cancer or hormone-dependent tumors.

Pregnancy (unless medically advised).
Side Effects:
Headache, dizziness, breast tenderness, spotting, mood changes, and nausea may occur.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Avoid during pregnancy unless prescribed for specific medical reasons. Use with caution during lactation under medical supervision.
