Indications:
SLIPTIN M 500 MG is indicated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus, especially in patients whose blood sugar levels are not adequately controlled by diet, exercise, and monotherapy. -
Pharmacology:
Metformin decreases hepatic glucose production and improves insulin sensitivity, while Glimepiride stimulates pancreatic beta cells to secrete insulin. The combination results in improved glycemic control. -
Dosage:
Typically, one tablet taken orally once daily with meals. Dosage may be adjusted based on blood glucose response and tolerability. -
Administration:
Take orally with meals to reduce gastrointestinal side effects. Swallow the tablet whole with water. -
Interaction:
May interact with diuretics, corticosteroids, beta-blockers, and other antidiabetic drugs. Alcohol may enhance the risk of lactic acidosis. Consult your physician before combining medications. -
Contraindications:
Hypersensitivity to metformin, glimepiride, or any excipients; diabetic ketoacidosis; severe renal or hepatic impairment; acute or chronic metabolic acidosis. -
Side Effects:
Common side effects include gastrointestinal disturbances (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea), hypoglycemia, dizziness, headache, and allergic reactions. -
Pregnancy & Lactation:
Use during pregnancy only if clearly needed; insulin is preferred. Consult your doctor before use during pregnancy or breastfeeding. -
Therapeutic Class:
Oral hypoglycemic agent; combination of Biguanide and Sulfonylurea. -
